No and here's why:
There are 3 careers industry that are over saturated thanks to YouTube, the online coaching phenomenon, and fake gurus, pretty soon is going to be 5.
Being a notary is on top of the list; Number one.
There are currently 145,922 active notaries public in California for 2025. There is 1 notary for every 245 California residents.
If that doesn't scare you from becoming a notary in Los Angeles. Here's another fact.
Only 274,552 homes sold last year in California in 2024, That's only 2 signings per notary if their lucky.
Guess which industry is the second over saturated. You guess it, real estate agents.
There were 433,510 license agents in California for 2024 and only 274,552 homes sold last year in 2024. 77% of agents did not make one cent.
Why is this happening?
Online coaching and fake gurus.
It's easy getting new people to buy their program / product, all they have to do is place an ad on you tube of the promise of making you hundreds of dollars per month for just being a notary / real estate agent / digital marketer or what ever (pick a niche) and bang they got you because you need money and it looks easy and simple to do.
The online coaches job is to get as many suckers into their program as soon as possible so they can keep making money selling you a false dream. There are hundreds of online coaches for every niche, over saturating every career industry imaginable.
And the reason they tell you haven't made any money as a notary is because you are not doing enough marketing and or that it takes time.
No, the real reason is because its super saturated (I just gave you the facts / numbers). Plus, every escrow company and signing agency already have their go to notaries / signing agents in place and a list of hundred more notaries after them.
Your best bet on getting a signing is if their go to notary person dies, goes on vacation or quits the business to pursue something else. So theirs a slim chance there. You think season notaries are going to let you come in and take their business away?
We need to start regulating the online coaching community like we regulate fishing.
